Just like the joke-like bonanza of lies covering anything from NHS plans to VAT, tuition fees, tax, the minimum wage and the rest, the Conservatives have now come up with this gem: "The government will be able to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of everyone in the UK under new legislation set to be announced soon", reports the BBC today.
And the justification? "Tackling crime and terrorism", says the Tory-led Home Office. Of course. What. A. Bunch. Of . Clowns.

Hi Claude. I'm somewhat reassured to see I'm not the only one viewing this announcement as spin. As I wrote in my piece, "Classic spin. Seems to be working too. They say 'Jump' and the media say, 'Is this high enough?'"
Yup, they can get stuffed with this idea! Always the same in the UK a crisis occurs or a new threat emerges and hey presto we must have more powerful government. As i said last year about the riots (you will disagree with my assessment of their cause) the solution is smaller government not bigger.
