The week's news round-up

by Johnny Taronja

You've got to understand the BBC's need to be seen as neutral as a fence-sitting Swiss. But the risk, of course, is that of delivering inaccurate news. How can they write that the Biden v Palin debate didn't have a clear winner? While it's true of the McCain/Obama spat that the Democrat failed to impress, it's quite obvious that Joe Biden absolutely mauled Sarah Palin in the vice-presidential debate. And it means nowt that Palin didn't drop any clangers. You wouldn't either if you were standing there saying nothing factual.

Alright, politicians must be ready to take unpopular decisions, but Gordon Brown bringing Peter Mandelson back (Peter Mandelson!!!)? Why not John Leslie, Jodie Marsh or Pete Doherty?

Brian Reade in Friday's Mirror: "Under Cameron [the Tories] have ditched celebrities like Jim Davidson and Patti Boulaye from their functions to show they attract youthful A-listers who are in tune with the kids. Yet who was the turn at this year's gala dinner? A singer who last charted in the mid-80s, when most Young Conservatives were foetuses (that's in their mum's womb - not doing William Hague impressions)". Tony Hadley.

Right when you wish The Sun was being as full of crap as usual, they're telling the truth. They revealed the depressing news that TK Maxx are selling trendy hooded jackets "tooled up" with a 2 1/2in blade. The items have now been removed, but whoever came up with the idea should be bitch slapped.

Steve Richards in The Independent criticises those who "masterminded" the sacking of Sir Ian Blair. No, the only thing about the Former Met Chief's resignation is that he didn't do it three years ago. For once, we agree with the Daily Mail: Ian Blair's tenure was characterised by 'arrogance', 'lies' and 'incompetence'.
