The British people are so 'fed up' and 'angry' that they're about to put into power a party and a leader both heavily involved in the expenses scandal.
The latest ComRes poll confirms the Tories as the leading party with 30% of the vote. Today the Independent is making quite a big deal out of the fact that the Tories' rating is down since the eruption of the expenses scandal.
Yet, their lead is still safe, meaning that a vast chunk of the British public, for all their muttering of disgust, disillusion and anger, are ready to hand a blank cheque to a party that is:
a) severely involved in the scandal (with scores of its minted MPs milking the taxpayer to do up their moats, castles and tennis courts);
b) led by a sanctimonious multi-millionaire old Etonian who, while lecturing on 'change', borrowed £350,000 for a taxpayer-funded mortgage on their constituency pile and then promptly paid off in cash the loan on their London home.
So, here we are. The same way we let Emperor Tony Blair get away with everything, from hot air lectures to illegal wars, for ten years, we the British people, are about to place our trust in David Cameron and his party.
Is it because we are too lazy to look around for alternatives? Or because we're so gullible that we are taken in by a telegenic smile after the other? One way or the other, you can hear the sound of bleating sheep echoing around us.

a) ...and don't forget 'servant's quarters'.
I think that tells us everything about the type of Tory MP that is going to fill the Commons in 11 months time.
The same people who are too lazy to change TV channel have spent a lifetime voting for the same party - it seems this is a habit more difficult then wanking to give up. Most of the others have either stopped voting altogether which amplifies the zombie voters or vote in a safe seat knowing their vote is useless to change anything. At the end of the day, the people who vote Tory while proclaiming their outrage at expenses are hypocrites just as much as the politicians they elect.

And I too think the Indy (as well as certain sites) are getting a bit carried away with talks of "Tories hit by the expenses crisis". Wishful thinking, I say.
